“Chess” had all the right ingredients. The musical was created by lyricist Tim Rice (”Jesus Christ Superstar,” “Evita”) and co-composers Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson of ABBA. The storyline was inspired by the 1972 chess match between American Bobby Fischer and Russian Boris Spassky.
