A report from an NSF workshop on design automation and theory, and a video Carver Mead is famous for creating the “Mead-Conway” revolution with Lynn Conway. In 1980 they published a best selling textbook “Introduction to VLSI System Design” which allowed almost anyone to design a VLSI chip.
